The Water Cycle–or SNOW cycle?

For today’s wintry read aloud I thought I’d share Bob the Snowman by Sylvia Loretan.

I like this one because it shares the water cycle without the rain.  Snow just makes this science lesson much more interesting.  After reading the story, go back through the book with your class to plug in scientific terms like condensation, evaporation, and precipitation.

For extra fun, allow time for students to create a comic strip with their own snowmen journeying through the water cycle.  Using speech bubbles, make sure students include the scientific terms.  Share the comics and display to reinforce what they’ve learned.
