Millie Turns Two!

Yesterday we celebrated our dog Millie’s 2nd birthday

So this week I will showcase books that Millie loves–just a few from her own   5 PAWs list.

Don’t worry– sad ones like Where the Red Fern Grows and Stone Fox will not be featured.  Millie is more of a happily ever after type reader.

Millie’s first choice?  Good Dog, Carl by Alexandra Day This responsible rottweiler knows how to babysit!  From Carl’s Birthday to Carl’s Christmas, there are several books to choose from.

Teaching Idea:  With very little text, the wonderful illustrations tell the story.  Wordless books are a great way to practice storytelling.

Allow your students to write their own dialogue for each illustration.  What is Carl thinking?  What about the baby?

As a writer, I use wordless books to spark my own story idea.  Next time you need writing inspiration, grab a book from Alexandra Day’s Carl collection.  Carl is a fun way to prompt your creative thinking.
