Patricia Polacco Week

As our Polacco Week comes to an end, I thought I would just point out some other great ones she’s written to consider using in your own classroom.

Her books are wonderful models for beautiful language, so go ahead and check out a few of her titles at your local library.

After spending some time enjoying these fabulous selections, jot down a few of your favorite titles in your Summertime Journal along with a few writing ideas.  When school begins, you will have a week’s worth of Polacco read-alouds and writing prompts!

The Bee Tree  A grandfather shares the joys of chasing the words through the pages of a book.  Great book to motivate reading.

Just Plain Fancy  A young Amish girl finds a mysterious egg that hatches into something extraordinary.

Chicken Sunday The children want to buy an Easter hat for Miss Eula when they are accused of throwing eggs at Mr. Kodinski.  A story sharing love and respect for others.
